Leacock/Fenty win Trophy Stall Open men’s doubles title

Leyland Leacock and Nicolas Fenty on Saturday defeated Khalif Gobin and William Sprangler 6-4, 6-2 at the Le Ressouvenir Tennis Court to win the

Guyana Tennis Association (GTA)/Trophy Stall 2014 men’s Open doubles competition.

On Friday, the Over 35 Men’s Doubles category concluded with fierce competitiveness, much to the delight of the few spectators.

The experienced pair of Godfrey Lowden/Omar Persaud recorded the most wins in their round robin group to capture the O-35 men’s doubles category on Friday.

Lowden/Persaud defeated Sam Barakat/Lineu De Paula 6-3, 6-4 and Albert Razick/Bo Arbogast 7-6(8/6), 6-4 while Albert Razick/Bo Arbogast defeated Sam Barakat/Lineu De Paula 6-1, 6-1.

In the Open mixed doubles category, Leacock and Afruica Gentle defeated Orande Dainty and Aretta Dey 6-4, 6-2 to grab the title.

The conclusion of the tournament completed the GTA activities for 2014 having been extended to January for completion after being plagued by bad weather during Mid-December.

The closing ceremony for the tournament will be held January 31 at 4:00pm at the National Racquet Centre Tennis Courts. All players are asked to attend.
