Showstoppers meet West Side Ballers today in Guinness Greatest of the Streets West Dem final

After five days action across two venues, tourney favourites Pouderoyen Showstoppers will faceoff with West Side Ballers in the inaugural finale of the Guinness of the Streets West Demerara Edition today at the Pouderoyen Tarmac.

Pouderoyen Showstoppers punched their ticket to the knockout round after dismantling Patentia Street Ballers 3-0 in their semi-final showdown while West Side Ballers edged Raiders 2-1 via penalty kicks after normal and extra time finished 1-1.

The home side will start the grand finale as the firm favourites after dismissing their impending opponents in the earlier preliminary round 2-0 at the same venue.

In the tourney’s leading scorer with four goals Dexroy Adams alongside Marvin Josiah, Anthony Sancho and Nathan Allicock, Showstoppers boast the event’s foremost strike force. This is evident by their event leading nine goals scored to date over five fixtures, which translates to 1.8 goals per match.

Further examination of the numbers in the knockout section would illustrate an improved offensive proficiency as they have scored four goals in two fixtures at a rate of two goals per game. On the defensive end, Showstoppers have been even more impressive as they have yet to concede.

On the other hand, West Side Ballers led by the offensive trident of Anthony Harding, Morgan Henry and Dwayne St. Kitts have scored a respectable six goals over their five fixtures. This converts to a goal ratio of 1.2.  In the knockout section of the event, they have scored two goals in as many matches while conceding only once from a defensive perspective. This is an overall improvement from their earlier defensive showing as they had conceded three goals in as many games in the earlier group stages.

In the third place playoff, Patentia Street Ballers will lock horns with Raiders. Prior to the semi-final fixtures, four exhibition matches will occur.

Winners of the event will receive $300,000 and the championship trophy while the second place side will collect $150,000 and the runners-up accolade. The third and fourth place finishers will collect $100,000 and $75,000 respectively.
