The Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) Mashramani One Day Softball tournament will bowl off this Saturday at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, Queenstown.
The tournament a day/night affair, has attracted some 14 teams with eight contesting the Open category (male of any age) while the remaining six teams will compete in the Masters category (40 years of age and over).
Matches will commence from 2:00pm and conclude at 11:30pm.
The male Open tournament will be a five-overs-a-side affair while the Masters will participate in a 10/10 competition.
Matches will be played on two pitches simultaneously and time will be strictly implemented.
Entrance fee for the Open category is $15,000 and the Masters category $20,000. The winning team in each category will receive $50,000 and the runner-ups $15,000 each. The yellow Floodlight ball will be used. Teams can purchase the ball at Mikes Pharmacy on Sheriff Street. Teams wanting to take part can call GFSCA organiser Wayne Jones at 650-1790 or 685-6908 to enter. The one day/night softball 14- team tournament will be held the last Saturday of every month at the DCC ground.
