Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ladies team and Hikers men’s team secured respective first places when the annual Bounty/Antonio’s Grill one day hockey competition concluded Sunday at the Providence National Stadium.
In the all GCC female final, GCC Tigers defeated GCC Spartans by a 1-0 score line. Captain Sonia Jardine netted the fixture’s only goal in the 37th minute.
In the male final, Hikers defeated GCC `A’ on penalty kicks after regulation time ended with the scores locked on 1-1. Kevin Spencer initially gave the Bourda side the early lead while Robert France equalised for Hikers.
In the men’s semi-final section, Hikers defeated Old Fort in the first semi-final by a 2-0 score line compliments of goals from Colonel Heywood and Randy Hope.
In the second semi-final, GCC-A defeated GCC-B by a 3-1 score. Spencer registered a double in the win while Eliomar Silva netted on his debut. On target in the loss was Phillip Fernandes.
