Defending champs boot Future from Sparta Boss tourney

Defending champs Future were booted from the Sparta Boss First Anniversary Knockout Football tourney, going down to North East La Penitence 1-0 on Wednesday at the Sparta Boss Tarmac in East La Penitence.

Shaquille Browne settled the quarterfinal engagement when he found the back of the net compliments of a 16th minute conversion. With the win, North East La Penitence will now lock horns with West Front Road-Gold is Money after the latter defeated arch-rivals Leopold Street.

West Front Road prevailed in the scoreless fixture via the penalty route by a 2-1 score. The other semi-final fixture will see Up-Top Youths battling Tigerbay after they secured quarterfinal wins over Pike Street and Charlotte Street respectively.

Up-Top Youths downed Pike Street by a 2-1 score line compliments of goals from Jermin Junior and Anthony Charles while Tigerbay squeaked past Charlotte Street by a 3-2 margin. The semi-final and finale are set for today at the same venue.

The winner of the tourney will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy while the second placed unit will receive $200,000 and the runners-up accolade. The third place finisher will walk away with $100,000. The sponsors of the tournament are August Beverages, Sparta Boss and Rainbow Villas.
