Everest Cricket Club (ECC) dethroned defending champions Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) winning by 41 runs on Sunday at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) ground in the final of the Banks Malta Supreme U13 cricket tournament.

Everest CC restricted GYO to 210-8 from their allotted 25 overs in reply to the 251-2 they made batting first. GYO actually

scored 290-8 but 80 runs were subtracted due to the loss of eight wickets (10 runs for every wicket that fell). The victors scored 271-2, resulting in 20 runs being subtracted.

No Everest batsman reached double figures while Vijay Sharma and Alex Kanaya accounted for a wicket each for GYO whose Navendra Persaud top scored with 10 while Everest’s Zachariah Mootoo snatched 2-4 from three overs. Joshua Gardener supported him with 1-3.

In the post-match presentation several players were rewarded for their performances during the tournament; Mootoo was adjudged the MVP of the final and he also captured the best bowler prize, Narendra Persaud was adjudged the best batsman in the final while Gardener was named the best fielder. Adrian Hinds of Transport Sports Club (TSC) received the award for the best batting performance of the tournament 49 not out as well as most runs for his overall total of 167. He was also adjudged the best all-rounder. Ronaldo Fredericks of TSC was rewarded with the best bowling performance prize for his 5-5.
