Multidimensional woman excels in a man’s world

It is a man’s world.

Or so it seems to be especially on the local sporting landscape.

Vidushi Persaud, however, serves a reminder that not only in the sport arena, but the world as a whole, would be nothing without a woman.

Already the holder of numerous titles within and beyond the sporting fraternity, Persaud added the NSC’s Female Sport Official award to her cabinet last Friday.

A reminder of her rapid ascension within the sports ranks.

During the past year, Persaud was elected President of the Guyana Sport Shooting Federation (GSSF) and has also shot her way up the field to become one of Guyana’s top competitive pistol shooters. She consistently out shoots local competition and has represented the nation on the international shooting ranges with prize winning performances.

As President of the GSSF, the sport devotee has been the trail blazer for new concept of sport shooting in these 83,000 square miles of which she aspires to take to a whole new level.

Persaud, who also holds the position of Vice-Chair of the National Sports Commission (NSC), contributes majorly to the development of other dimensions of sports, such as Cycling, Horse-racing, Football and Squash.

The 35-year old Attorney at Law has expertly developed an art of balancing her private practice while advancing her multidimensional and selfless interest in sports and other social developmental activities.

She currently serves as a Director of the Guyana Legal Aid Clinic, Member of the Guyana Bar Association, Vice-Chair of the National Commission on Disability, Member of the Allied Health Professions Council, Member of Castellani’s House Management Committee. Council Member of the Guyana Olympic Association, Member of the Guyana National Rifle Association, Member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association.

Persaud is also the Secretary of the Guyana Squash Association and is a certified Level 1 Squash Coach and CASA Referee.

Her wide repertoire of distinguished association allows her to lend a multi-dimensional array of invaluable support to which many can give testimony.
