PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC- West Indies batsman Lendl Simmons is facing a legal battle with advertising executive Therese Ho over intimate pictures of her he is accused of releasing on social media.
A lawsuit filed by Ho will be heard on September 28, a date set by Justice Frank Seepersad who presided over the case by way of video conference on Monday.
Seepersad was one of thousands affected by Monday’s “total policing” exercise which led to major traffic gridlock in Port-Of-Spain.
Ho claims that she had a brief sexual relationship with Simmons which ended when she learnt he was engaged to be married.
She is accusing him of releasing intimate photos of her, without her permission, through via social media and instant messaging networks and claims he was seeking revenge after she threatened to go public with their romantic affair.
The Port-of-Spain advertising account executive is seeking substantial damages from Simmons for breaching the common law principle of confidence.
Simmons is with the West Indies team expected back in the Caribbean soon, after they were knocked out of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup at the quarter-final stage.
However, his attorney Ken Wright as well as Ho and her attorney Christian Chandler were at the Hall of Justice in Port-of-Spain.
The 30-year-old cricketer has denied ever being involved with Ho, but admitted they had a brief singular sexual encounter.
