Ex-Guyana and West Indies pacer Reon King along with accredited coaches Orin Bailey and Trevon Garraway will bowl off an eight-day cricket coaching clinic at the Banks DIH Thirst Park Ground, from today.
King, a qualified West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Level 3 coach during an invited comment with Stabroek Sports yesterday, explained that the clinic will target kids from the ages of 5-15 in a holistic effort to make them more cricket oriented.
“I thought that it was time I give back to the youths, exposing the fundamentals of cricket is something that we need and we need to start introducing cricket at a younger age,” said the former speedster.
King explained that while the clinic will target possible newbies, he is optimistic that children who are already exposed to the game will be a part of the clinic while admitting that the team was willing to do remedial work on youngsters who might have a few technical errors.
The clinic will feature 5-7 and 8-10 year olds having sessions in the mornings from 9:00hrs-12:00pm while the older kids who fall in the 11-15 year-old bracket will have their sessions from 13:00hrs-16:00hrs.
The cost per child is GY$4,000.
