DCC dethrones TSC to capture Brainstreet U15 title

Defending champions Transport Sports Club (TSC) surrendered its Georgetown Cricket Association’s (GCA)/ Brainstreet Under-15 title to the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) Sunday at the Malteenoes Sports Club ground.

In a low-scoring affair, DCC triumphed by five wickets. TSC took first strike and was restricted to 85 all out in 31.4

overs with Joel Spooner hitting 31. Vickram Bamfield collected 3-16 to end as the leading DCC bowler while Qumar Torrington and Jospice Jones claimed two wickets each.

In return, DCC reached 86-5 to score a comfortable victory. National U-15 player Alphius Bookie made an unbeaten 33 and was supported by Robin Williams who scored 20. Akeem Maloney and Spooner captured two wickets each for TSC.

Bookie was adjudged man-of-the match of the final for his innings.

The 14-year-old also received awards for the batsman scoring the most runs and the batsman with the highest individual score. Other award winners were Maloney who captured the best bowling award (6-6) and Spooner who captured the most wickets in the tournament.
