NA Kings, Unruly Gang score comprehensive wins

New Amsterdam (NA) Kings and Unruly Gang sent early warnings to the field following comprehensive opening wins in the inaugural Guinness of the Streets Berbice edition on Friday at the NA Ferry Tarmac.

Unruly Gang registered the largest margin of victory in the tourney to date, dismantling Courtland Black Sharks 7-0 compliments of a Delroy Ferdinand hat-trick and a Devon James double. Sealing the score line with a singular conversion was Sherwin Halley.

On the other hand, the Kings crushed Lochaber Boys by a 5-0 score line led by a double from Adrian Adams. He was supported by sibling Leonardo Adams, Samuel Johnson and Delroy Dean who netted solo efforts.

Similarly registering wins were Courtland Stars, Canje, Manchester Boys and East Bank Gunners. The fourth matchup saw Courtland Stars defeating Up-Top-Ballers by a 3-1 margin. Michael Cummings registered a hat-trick in the win.

Scoring for the loser was Compton Watts. In the tourney opener, Canje edged We Them Boys 3-2. Sherwin Parris, Rondel Hazel and Selwyn Parris netted for Canje while Kevin Dey registered a double for We Them Boys.

The sixth matchup witnessed Manchester Boys defeating Big Ballers by a 3-2 score. Keron Grenville netted a double while Diondre Tappin scored a solo effort to seal the win. On target in the loss were Worach Roach and Winston Benjamin.

In the third fixture, East Bank Gunners outshot Fiesta Boys 3-2 on penalty kicks after normal time ended with the scores locked on 3-3.

Ronaldo August led the winners with a double in regulation time while Lomel August contributed with a solo conversion. Scoring for the defeated were Dason Rose, Shakeel Batson and Delroy Adams.

In the final two fixtures, Spartans and Corriverton defeated Five Yard and Rosignol respectively via the walkover route. Action in the tourney was programmed to continue yesterday while the semi-final and resulting finale will commence today. All matches will be held at the same venue.

Winner of the event will receive $300,000 and the championship trophy while the second place side will collect $150,000 and the runners-up accolade. The third and fourth place finishers will collect $100,000 and $75,000 respectively.
