Score’s Even’s handlers seeking President’s Cup revenge

Connections of Guyana’s premier thoroughbred, Score’s Even will be looking forward to renewing rivalries with some familiar faces at the President’s Cup on Sunday.

Winning is on the to-do-list.

The handlers of the Simply Royal Stable stalwart will be aiming to avenge his last gasp Guyana Cup Fever defeat on Easter Sunday as he again clashes with winner CP Got Even in three days at Port Mourant.

Score’s Even had its two-race season winning streak by the Colin Elcock trained Dark Bay Mare as he faded to fifth on the homestretch.

The grey gelding’s owner and trainer Dennis Deoroop labeled the shocking defeat as an aberration.

“I will say he just had a bad day” said Deoroop yesterday. “Everything went wrong on Easter Sunday, the Jockey had a bad trip too but that is racing, when u make mistakes another will gain.”

When the trotters line up in the feature A and Lower eight and a half-furlong event in three days, Deoroop expects his champion race horse to return to its triumphant ways and take home the hefty $1.2M bounty.

“He will bounce back as true champions do. He did a mile work out this afternoon and did just great.”

Other events carded include the K Class Non winners (1000m), E1 and Lower (1300), G1 and Lower (1300m), J3 and Lower (1200m), H1 and Lower & 3 Year-old W.I Bred maidens (1300m), J1 and Lower and 3 Year-old Guyana Bred winners (1200m) and the 3 Year-old W.I Bred (1400m).

The event is a collaborative effort of the Port Mourant Turf Club and the friends of the PPP/C.

In excess of $8M will be on offer.

Action starts at 12:30hrs. See you there.
