GCC ladies team loses twice in T/dad league

Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ladies suffered successive defeats on day two of their inaugural season in the Trinidad and Tobago Outdoor Women’s League, losing to Magnolias and Paragon Hockey clubs respectively on Saturday in the twin island republic.

Aftrer defeating Ventures Hockey Club 1-0 in their season opener on Friday, the Guyanese, in their opening match of day two against Magnolias, went down by a 1-2 score line. Stacey Sui-Butt led the Trinidad and Tobago side with a double while Kerensa Fernandes netted for GCC.

In their final match of the day against league leaders Paragon, the Guyanese outfit lost 2-5. Initially taking a 2-0 lead via goals from Kerensa Fernandes and Shebiki Baptiste in the fifth and eighth minutes respectively, GCC would conceded five unanswered goals led by a double from Trinidad and Tobago national captain Allan McLean.

Up to press time yesterday, GCC were to end the first part of their season with matches against Notre Dame and Checkers Hockey Club. They are expected to return to local shores today to prepare for their second portion in the season.
