Before the internment, his family members, friends and well-wishers gathered at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground to pay their last respects to the father of two who looked at peace, clad in a peach shirt and beige suit in his polished casket.

Roberts, who was employed at the newspaper for the past five years, died last Tuesday at the Davis Memorial Hospital after a brief illness with his kidneys. He was 43.

Pastor Kemuel Rock, who delivered a stirring sermon mentioned that:“My ministry was to ensure that Calvin should not reach this box (pointing) before his time.”

Rock who also gave condolences to Roberts’ family adding:“Calvin is absent from this body, but he is present with God.”

Delivering the eulogy was Sports Editor of the daily, Leon Horatio. After giving his condolences, Horatio delivered an overview of the life of the award-winning journalist. Horatio added that the former captain of the Media cricket team was always willing to go the extra mile and has left behind a solid foundation of hard work for other sports journalists to follow.
