PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Republic Bank has signed on as the official bank of the Hero Caribbean Premier League, organisers announced yesterday.

As a result, the company will now brand the match winners’ cheque at the post-match presentation and will also sponsor the pitch report, to be labelled the Republic Bank Pitchcheck.

The CPL said in a statement that the partnership represented “yet another leap forward” as the tournament continued to position itself as one of the leading Twenty20 events in the world.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Republic Bank into the CPL family,” said CPL’s commercial director, Jamie Stewart.

“There are a number of similarities between both brands; Republic Bank is the leading homegrown bank in the Caribbean and the CPL is the premier sporting event in the region. We look forward to a fruitful relationship working together.”

The third edition of the CPL bowled off in Barbados last month with capacity crowds for the four matches staged at the Kensington Oval venue.

After being launched in 2013, the CPL has steadily gained in size and popularity and has attracted some of the biggest names in world cricket, to represent the six franchises.

Republic Bank’s General Manager, Group Marketing and Communications, Michelle Palmer-Keizer, said the finance company was thrilled with the new partnership.

“As a loyal advocate of local and regional sporting activities, Republic Bank is proud to be the official bank of the 2015 Hero Caribbean Premier League,” she said.

“We are happy to have the opportunity to extend our regional focus through such a time-honoured sport and we extend the best of luck to all the teams competing in this tournament.”

This year, the tournament runs from June 20 to July 26 and features reigning champions Barbados Tridents, last year’s losing finalists, Guyana Amazon Warriors, 2013 winners Jamaica Tallawahs, along with Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel, St Lucia Zouks and new franchise St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
