AAG names teams for World Youth, Pan Am Junior c/ships

The Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) will have a busy month ahead.

According to a press release, the AAG will be sending teams to compete at the overseas meets while installing the long awaited Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) System. Training of officials to operate the FAT System will also be done.

A relay festival will also be staged here.

The system’s installation and training will commence today at the National Track and Field Centre at Leonora at 13:30hrs, while the relay meet will be held tomorrow.

A four-member team of three athletes (Natricia Hooper, Avon Samuels and Compton Caesar) and Coach, Julian Edmonds will then wing out to Cali, Colombia for the July 15-19 World Youth Championships.

The AAG will then send a five member comprising four athletes and Coach, Aliann Pompey to the July 31-August 2 Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada.

Brenessa Thompson, Jason Yaw, Andrea Foster and Gairy Springer are the athletes competing at the Championships.
