DeNobrega outduels Persaud to win P&P feature event

Paul DeNobrega out-pedalled Robin Persaud in a thrilling two-man sprint finish yesterday to emerge winner of the feature 35-lap event of the 15th annual P and P Insurance and General Consultancy Limited 11-race cycle programme.

In perfect conditions for racing at the National Park, the Team Alanis standout took pole position in a brisk one hour, 16 minutes and 56 seconds.

DeNobrega who placed second in last year’s edition also pocketed two sprint prizes during his first feature win for the season.

Team Gillette Evolution’s Akeem Wilkinson joined DeNobrega and Persaud on the podium.

DeNobrega’ teammates, Paul Choo-Wee-Nam and Alonzo Ambrose along with United Bike Shop’s Mario King rounded out the top six positions.

Notes: There were 15 starters for the feature event. Prior to the post-race presentations, representatives of the company pledged their continued support for the annual June fixture. Organizer of the event, Hassan Mohamed congratulated the cyclists for making the programme a success.

The riders will now take their talents to the open roads of the Ancient County this morning to compete in the David Granger victory road race.
