Morgan Learning Centre sealed their berth to the final of the North Georgetown Zone, swamping Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) 4-0 in their semi-final matchup when the Digicel Secondary Schools Championship continued yesterday at the Tucville ground. Idany Jobe led the winners with a double on either side of the half time in the 31st and 47th minutes. He was assisted by Leon Richardson and Orin Moore who netted in the 35th and 69th minutes respectively.
Due to the victory, Morgan Learning Centre will now oppose arch-rivals Chase Academy in the zone final tomorrow at the same locale.
With both teams struggling to pass the ball under the soggy conditions due to the constant downpour, Morgan Learning Centre opened the scoring in a fortuitous manner as Jobe found the back of the net.
Lurking within the right side of the box, the lanky forward upon receiving the ball after it deflected off the body of a defender following a left sided Orin Moore free kick, smashed his right footed strike down the middle of the net to ignite sliding celebrations on the field.
The proverbial flood-gates then opened as Richardson got into the scoring act four minutes later, placing his first time right footed shot 22 yards within the centre of the field, past the diving keeper and into the left hand corner.
With a 2-0 lead in their grasp going into the second stanza, Morgan Learning Centre quickly added to their tally two minutes into the resumption as Jobe sealed his double in similar fashion to his first.
Prowling within the centre of the six yard box, Jobe slotted his effort into the empty net after a 30 yard Moore free kick from the centre of the field was spilt by the keeper into his unchallenged path.
The win was then sealed in sublime fashion as Moore scored, discharging a powerful 34 yard right footed shot from the centre of the field past the diving custodian and into the back of the goal, after it crashed into the right upright.
The action is slated to continue today with Dolphin Secondary and Leon’s Lessons facing off in the South Georgetown Zone finale.
