Windwards beat Leewards to extend lead

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Windward Islands kept up their unbeaten record to go clear at the top of the standings when they beat Leeward Islands by 18 runs in their third round game of the Regional Under-15 Champonship at Albion Sports Complex here yesterday.

The Windwards managed just 118 all out off 47.4 overs but then bowled splendidly to defend their total, bundling out the Leewards for 100 off 40.4 overs.

Wicketkeeper Tahj Tavernier top-scored with 39 off 82 balls but was one of just three players in double figures and the only one to pass 15.

He put on 34 for the third wicket with Michah Joseph who hit 12.

Bodgenarine Sharma (3-26) and Zawandi White (3-26) snared three wickets apiece.

In reply, captain Zawandi White carried his bat through the innings to finish unbeaten on 40 but it was not enough as the Leewards came up well short of their target.

Opener White struck three fours and faced 80 balls but found no support and was the only one in double figures.

Dhan-Raj Cepal (2-4) and Simeon Gerson (2-6) were the leading wicket-takers.
