The Referee/Judges Commission of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) held a refresher course yesterday at the Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis Gym.
According to Chairman of the Committee, Ramona Agard, yesterday’s course was hosted to “bring the referees and judges up to speed with the many changes of the AIBA rules.”
Agard told this publication that the four-hour event was timely since the association has planned their annual National Novices Championships this weekend. The championships will be followed by the Under-16 Championships and a Goodwill Tournament “which will see 10-12 countries competing.”
She noted that the aim of the course was also to establish a better working relationship among the referees, judges and coaches.
“I expect that persons would have grasped everything so as to ensure that they deliver in the future,” Agard added.
