Petra Pee Wee football competition kicks off today

The fourth annual Petra Organisation/Courts Pee-Wee Under-11 football tournament will officially kickoff today at the Thirst Park ground with 12 programmed group matchups.

The event, which concludes November 15th at the same venue, will feature 24 schools competing in a round-robin format featuring six groups of four teams each.

On conclusion of the group stage, the top two teams from each group as well as the best four third positioned teams will advance to the round of 16 knock-out stage.

Following the conclusion of the round of 16 stage, the losing eight schools will compete for positions nine through 16 until the conclusion of the event while the victorious eight schools will compete for the semi-final positions. In the opening round of matches at 10:00hrs, St. Sidwell’s will oppose St. Pius Primary while Marian Academy will oppose Smith Memorial. At 10:45hrs, Enterprise will oppose Winfer Garden while Comenius Primary will lock horns with St. Ambrose.

In the 11:30hrs round of matches, F.E. Pollard will oppose St. Agnes while School of the Nations will tackle St. Agnes. The 12:15hrs round of fixtures will witness North Georgetown opposing Rama Krishna and South Ruimveldt facing off with J.E. Burnham Primary.

At 13:00hrs, St. Stephen’s will lock horns with West Ruimveldt while defending champs Stella Maris will open their campaign against St. Gabriel’s. In the final two matches at 13:45hrs, St. Angela’s will oppose Tucville Primary and East La Penitence will tackle St. Margaret’s Primary.

Winners of the tourney will receive the championship trophy, medals, a set of team uniforms and certificates while the runners-up will collect the second place trophy, medals, six footballs and certificates.

The third placed side will receive the respective trophy, four balls and certificates while fourth placed will be presented with a trophy and certificates. The most discipline team will also be presented with a trophy.

On the individual side, the most valuable player, highest goal scorer and best goalkeeper will each receive a trophy and football cleats.
