Georgetown Basketball Association launches website

The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) formally launched their official website yesterday at a simple press conference held at the Starr Computers Boardroom in Brickdam.

The site (www.gabagy.com) which was created by ST Designs, will feature 10 pages filled with information about the association and the teams that fall under its umbrella. Production of the site started in the month of July.

GABA President Junior Hercules said that the site will be used to promote all things related to the discipline as well as provide a vehicle for the respective sponsors to showcase their products.

Hercules further noted that this initiative is a collaboration between the GABA and the sponsors, declaring that it will propel the sport to a higher level.

According to Hercules, the site will assist in bringing awareness to the respective clubs affiliated to the body, noting that information regarding team profiles, player profiles and statistics as well as important news related topics and programs from GABA will be accessible on the site.  He said that live scores for games is an area that will be addressed by the site in the future, noting that while several categories of player statistics have been limited during the last few years, GABA will be working with the Guyana Basketball Officials Council to try and remedy the problem.

Hercules noted that this will occur through workshops and that test runs will occur in the not so distant future.
