KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Discarded West Indies gloveman Carlton Baugh stroked an unbeaten, even hundred to extend his rich vein of form, on Friday’s final day of the drawn three-day warm-up game in preparation for next month’s Professional Cricket League.
The experienced right-handed produced an accomplished knock off 164 deliveries, with seven fours and two sixes at Sabina Park, to follow up his 94 in the first innings and 56 in the previous warm-up match at Kensington Park. Carlton Baugh … scored 100 in trial match. Baugh, who last played international cricket three years ago, put on 126 for the fifth wicket with rookie Cassius Burton who made an unbeaten 52.
Top order batsman Andre McCarthy, who made an unbeaten 163 in the first innings, struck 48 as John Campbell’s XI ended on 252 for four.
Left-arm pacer Gavon Brown (2-44) and left-arm spinner Coi Thompson (2-47) shared the wickets to fall.
Earlier, veteran batsman and former Jamaica skipper Tamar Lambert failed to add to his overnight 74 not out, as Paul Palmer’s XI were dismissed for 268 in their first innings in reply to Campbell’s XI 350.
Resuming at 226 for five, Palmer’s XI lost wickets steadily with Lambert bowled by former West Indies Under-19 pacer Marquino Mindley who finished with three for 46.
The final four-day warm-up match will begin next week ahead of the scheduled November 6 start of the PCL.
