Dushraj, Anthony spur Aurora Secondary to victory

Shemar Dushraj scored a half century and Sherlon Anthony picked up a five-for to spur Aurora Secondary to a 109-run victory over New Opportunity Corps (NOC) Tuesday at the NOC ground in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary Schools Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Bank’s DIH Ltd, Coca Cola, Rainforest Water and Digicel, Essequibo.

Batting first, Aurora Secondary scored 234/4 from 25 overs.

Dushraj scored an unbeaten 85 with 12 fours and two sixes while Quinton Samson and Orlando Jailall with 38 and 27 runs respectively lent support. Bowling for NOC, Denzil Cummings had 2/37.

In reply, NOC was dismissed for 42 in 13.1 overs as Anthony bagged 5/15 and Roel Latchman 4/5 off 3.1 overs

Over at Walton Hall, Charity Secondary batting first against Eight of May Secondary, scored 105 in 19 overs. Bowling for Eight of May Secondary, Renaldo Paul and Alistair Rodrigues each took three wickets. In reply, Eight of May Secondary scored 106/6 in 14.3 overs. Kamesh Suknarine scored 23 not out and Motley Boyan, 22. Kemion James and Orindo Caesar picked up two wickets each for Charity Secondary.

At the Imran Bacchus ground, Anna Regina Multilateral defeated Cotton Field Secondary by 55 runs.

Batting first, Anna Regina Secondary scored 145 all out in 26.4 overs.

Gamesh Ramdahin, 36 and Sevond Bess, 31, were the top scorers.

Shivnarine Chattergoon picked up 4/17 from 5.1 overs while Daniel Mangar and Devindra Ramdahin ended with 3/23 and 3/38 respectively.

Cotton Field Secondary, in reply, fell for 90 in 20.2 overs. Dequan Clarke, Ramesh Persaud and Lance Roberts picked up two wickets each.

In another match played at the NOC ground, Johanna Cecelia Secondary defeated Abram’s Zuil Secondary by two wickets in a match reduced to 20 overs. Sent in, Abram’s Zuil Secondary reached 124/8 off their allotted overs. Temal Jaikaran scored an unbeaten 45 as Azim Fredericks captured 3/25 bowling for Johanna Cecelia who, in reply, reached 128-8 with Seekumar Singh, 35 and Trevor Collins 20 not out, the top scorers.

Shane Wonge, 3/20 and Joel Fortune, 2/25 were the main wicket takers for Abram’s Zuil Secondary.

In Georgetown, Lodge High School defeated South Ruimveldt Secondary by 113 runs. Batting first, Lodge High School scored 226/6 in 20 overs with Omally Barker (41), Timothy Sealy (38), Akeem Williams (30) and Anthony Smith (34) the principal scorers. Bowling for South Ruimveldt Secondary, Andrew Persaud had 2/32.

South Ruimveldt Secondary in reply fell for 113 as Anthony Smith returned with the ball to claim 3/17 while Shemar Smith and Taurston Gordon also picked up three wickets.

At Thirst Park, St Joseph’s High School defeated Tutorial High School by 73 runs.

Batting first, St Joseph’s scored 173/7 off 20 overs. Arif Daniels scored 63 with six fours and three sixes while Dhanesh Ally and Kishan Tracy scored 31 and 26 respectively.

Reon Rodrigues and Ravi Coates each picked up two wickets.

In reply, Tutorial High School was dismissed for 100 in 15.3 overs. Joel Spooner scored 54 with six fours and three sixes while Kishan Tracy picked up 2/11 bowling for St Joseph’s High.
