It aimed to not only showcase the floating bridge, but also to help bring awareness to an issue that is tearing at the fabric of our society – domestic violence.

The fashion walk which was led by reigning Miss Guyana Universe Niketa Barker saw over 50 models dressed in white making the 1.25-mile journey across the floating bridge in fine style.

They wore pieces designed by Randy Madray, Mwanza Glenn and Keisha Edwards.

Other persons in the contingent included Reesa Sooklall, reigning Miss Guyana Talented Teen; Tiffany Bonner, Miss Guyana Talented Teen 2013; Alicia Bess, reigning Miss PJD2 Caribbean Queen and Meshack Howard, Mr PYARG, West Bank 2015 as well as other models from Traits Model Management.

According to the statement, Hugh George, managing director of ‘Traits’ was quoted saying,   “We wanted to use fashion as a tool to further awareness of domestic violence and add our voices to the cry to bring an end to this social ill.”

The fashion walk, which began on the eastern side of the bridge and culminated on the western side, also saw the participation of Help and Shelter, as they treated the commuters on the bridge to a great fashion display.
