Solutions Pro co-proprietor opts for hands-on coaching in managing a real business

Co-proprietor of the multi-service enterprise operating under the trading name Solutions Pro, Marlon George, is currently engaged in initiatives designed to consolidate the business entity which was created in February 2014 and which, he believes, still has a considerable road to travel.

George is one of a number of Guyanese who have taken the plunge from paid employment into establishing businesses of their own. In George’s case he believes that if Solutions Pro is to grow even further, he needs to continually refine his entrepreneurial skills.

Not that the combined capabilities of himself and his partner are insubstantial. He is the holder of an MBA and has held marketing and management positions in the private sector. His partner is an Accountant who holds the prestigious ACCA qualification.

Solutions Pro is a subsidiary of a parent entity known as 3MG Enterprise. The company offers a range of services that include accounting & financial management, training as well as retail office solutions including procurement and delivery.

“We envisage ourselves as a corporate pillar, continuously positioning our efforts to become the strategic business-to-business partner that provides client specific solutions,” George says. The company’s real ambition is to partner with its clients to enable them to continually improve their core competences.

Even as he focuses on how Solutions Pro can grow the businesses of its clients, George also continues to search for ways to consolidate his own enterprise and to cause the quality of its services to attract an expanded clientele. He and his partner are by no means the first entrepreneurial aspirants to discover that offering services to the business community requires that you first focus on continually consolidating your capacity to run a business of your own. That, these days, is one of the partners’ principal preoccupations.

As a member of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Solutions Pro has been afforded the opportunity of both rubbing shoulders with some of the city’s most experienced business persons as well as benefiting from the institutional experience which the GCCI affords.

In their quest to grow Solutions Pro the partners have found an invaluable ally in the local franchise of Action Coach, an international professional service that offers hands-on coaching in areas of business and entrepreneurship. What George values most, he says, is the experience of having a training experience that allows for the practical dissecting of an actual company, pinpointing its particular concerns and working in a focused manner in remedying those concerns. He believes that the real-life experience is more valuable than anything you learn in the classroom setting.
