Cordyline

Cordyline commonly called Red Dragon or Ti Plant originated in Australia, the Pacific and tropical America.

Garden (Peggy Chin)Cordyline has long sword-like leaves and varies in colour ranging from variegated green to pink to red and dark pink to red.

Cordyline is widely grown in the tropics. Some popular varieties include cultivars such as Cordyline terminalis whose leaves are dark red, hence it is referred to as Red Dragon. Other cultivars are: cv Cardinal stripe or cv Angusta rubra with mostly dark pink and red leaves.

Cordyline is not a fussy plant and it is simple to grow. It is ideal for beginners who would like to grow a few simple plants.

Plant it in well-drained soil in full sun to add colour to your garden. It can also grow as a potted house plant and is popular in landscaping projects.

Fertilizer with Miracle Gro All Purpose Plant Food once every 2 weeks. Pinch the top of the plant if you would like a fluffy Cordyline as it can grow to a height of approximately 8ft.

Until next week, Happy Gardening.
