The body of a Handsome Tree, Mahaica woman was discovered yesterday morning some distance away from her home, two days after she was reported missing.
Dead is thirty-eight-year-old Kamala Binda. She was reportedly of unsound mind.
The discovery was made around 7am yesterday at Handsome Tree, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) by a resident of the community, some 20 yards from where Binda resided.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News yesterday that the woman was reported missing on January 7.
He said the body bore no marks of violence and the police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Numerous efforts to make contact with relatives of Binda proved futile.
