Mother dies in accident while searching for son

A young mother of two died last evening after the motorcycle she was travelling on along Mandela Avenue was hit by a car.

Dead is Shauna Rice who along with her partner Steve Bidco spent last evening looking for their eight- -year-old son Jahiem. Jahiem had been taken from his home sometime yesterday afternoon by a relative who failed to inform his parents.

A relative of Steve Bidco speaking with Stabroek News last evening said that when Jahiem’s parents came home and found him missing they mounted a search. It was during this search that they were riding along Mandela Avenue that they were hit by the vehicle and Shauna who was the pillion rider died.

“Anyone who child missing is going to look for that child and it’s so sad that she died without knowing that the child was safe,” the relative said.

Up to press time Steve was in a serious condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital and the unidentified driver of the vehicle was in police custody.
