Puran Brothers has secured a $221m contract for the operation of the Haags Bosch landfill on the East Bank of Demerara.
A no-objection to this contract was granted by Cabinet this week, according to information yesterday from the Ministry of the Presidency.
Operation of the landfill had been a source of grave contention between the government and the former operator BK Inc.
Up to April this year, negotiations with BK Inc were continuing for a settlement on government’s termination of its management contract for the Haags Bosch landfill.
Puran Brothers had had an earlier association with the landfill.
