Cook, other to face murder charge

Two persons who recently faced attempted murder charges are expected to be charged with the capital offence soon after the victim, Sherwin Johnson, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

Alexis Turpin, a cook at Demico and 23-year-old Stephon Barlow of Sophia Squatting area appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts’ on separate occasion during last week charged with attempting to murder Johnson on July 2.

They were not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until July 27.

The court heard that on the day in question, Johnson went home and found Barlow and Turpin in a compromising position.  As a result, he was hit about his body with a crowbar.

Johnson succumbed to his injuries on Friday at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he had been admitted in a critical condition.

The duo are expected to be charged with murder as early as tomorrow.
