A convicted felon was returned to jail yesterday after he admitted to being found with a quantity of marijuana.
“I got caught up with the thing. I was getting no work. I ask the court to be lenient on me,” Ivor Green, 46, of 77 D’Urban Street, Lodge, told Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.
Green said he had only been released from prison two months ago.
The court heard that on July 26, at 699 Robb and Bourda Streets, Georgetown, Green had in his possession 48 grammes of cannabis for trafficking.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that on the day in question, ranks from the Narcotics Branch, acting on information, went to Bourda and cordoned off the area. However, they saw the accused sitting on a bag. The ranks approached and subsequently conducted a search, which uncovered the drug in the bag that Green was sitting on.
After Green pleaded guilty to the charge and pleaded for leniency, the Chief Magistrate sentenced him to three years in prison and fined him $72,000
