Two witnesses testify in Crum-Ewing murder PI

The prosecution yesterday presented two witnesses in the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charge of murdering Courtney Crum-Ewing.

Testifying before Magistrate Judy Latchman was Elesia Browne, who was at the time of the murder a police constable attached to the Crime Scene Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department and had taken photographic evidence at the scene on the day in question.

Further evidence was also given by police constable Devon Bowen, who had been a witness to the post-mortem examination. Bowen’s last testimony was delivered on April 13.

The PI continues today.

Rodrigues was charged in August with the murder of Crum-Ewing, who was gunned down in Diamond, whilst urging persons to vote in the May 2015 general elections.

In January of this year, the accused was cleared of a charge which alleged that he was in possession of the gun reportedly linked to the murder, but was sentenced to three years imprisonment for escaping custody. Magistrate Fabayo Azore had said at that time that the prosecution had failed to prove the elements of knowledge and possession of the firearm.

Nevertheless, the murder PI commenced a few weeks later before Magistrate Latchman.
