On July 21, Lackhan, 55, of Lot 39 Herstelling, East Bank Demerara was discovered dead by a neighbour in his home with a rope around his neck.

The neighbour, who had heard a commotion in Lackhan’s upper flat, later became suspicious when she saw an individual running out of the yard.

She ventured upstairs to check on Lackhan, since calls made to him went unanswered, and found his body in a room with a rope around his neck. The police were then summoned.

The prime suspect, David Outar, 24, of 369 Foulis, East Coast Demerara, was arrested shortly after the discovery and has since been charged with murdering Lackhan during a robbery.

Both Outar and the second man who has been held were employed as labourers at the Gafoor’s Industrial Complex at Beterverwagting, where Lackhan was a manager.
