President extends condolences on death of GMSA president

President David Granger has extended to the family and friends of President of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) and Managing Director of Safeway Security, Eon Caesar, who died on Friday evening in a hospital in Trinidad and Tobago.

According to a press release from the Ministry of the Presidency, Caesar, who was an Electrical Engineer by profession and whose company was established in 2006 soon after he graduated from the University of the West Indies, will be remembered for his passion for the development of the Information and Communication Technology sector and his ability to find quick solutions to the most challenging of problems.

This passion earned him the reputation for having a high standard of electronic solutions for domestic and public sector security and saw him heading the GMSA’s Security and Governance Sub-committee since 2013, before being elected to serve as President last year, the release said.

President Granger expressed deepest sympathy to his wife Saudia Caesar, his two daughters as well as other family members and friends.

Meanwhile, Caesar’s relatives informed yesterday that he was in fact 43 years old and had flown to Trinidad of his own accord since he was not in a coma, as had been erroneously reported by Stabroek News yesterday.

In addition, his two daughters are five and six years old.

Stabroek News regrets any distress yesterday’s publication may have caused his family.
