A North East La Penitence man died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after he was shot twice last night.
Matthew Scott of 291 North East La Penitence was rushed to GPHC by his family at just after 11 last night after he was shot twice in front of the yard.
The man who operates a shop in the area had just closed the business for the evening and was heading into his yard when he was shot twice by an unidentified assailant.
His brother Sherwin Anthony Williams told Stabroek News that he was on the verandah when he heard two gunshots. He explained that his brother had just closed his shop
“Matthew just now lock up the shop and going inside and all you hear is bladam, bladam. I start asking what happening and my nephew say Matthew get shoot,” Williams said. He maintained that his brother is a quiet person who has no problems with anyone so he can’t imagine who would shoot him.
He pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.
