CJIA upgrading facilities, reviewing services provided by contractors

Dear Editor,

The management of Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) wishes to thank the letter writer (Cleaning of CJIA not up to international standards, SN 28/01/2016) for expressing concern over the sanitary conditions of the washrooms and carpets.

Management values the feedback and wishes to assure the writer that appropriate actions will be taken to address the concerns.

Currently, management is in the process of upgrading its facilities and reviewing the services provided by its suppliers and contractors.

About a year ago, the washrooms throughout the terminal building were upgraded and every effort is being made to ensure ongoing maintenance and monitoring mechanisms are in place to make sure all setbacks are corrected immediately.

Our management team has also placed great emphasis on customer service and is in the process of rebranding our image under the theme “Ambassadors with Integrity.”

The initial target groups will be the taxi drivers and Red Cap porters, who were already informed of the initiative and are enlivened by it.

It is also public knowledge that in another 23 months the airport’s capacity will be significantly enhanced with longer and improved runways along with a modernised terminal building. Our attainable goal is to make CJIA the benchmark airport of the region, one used to measure exceptional quality of service and standards.

Let me reiterate, feedback is important to us. Passengers and airport users can freely contact the airport’s management team on telephone numbers 261-2281, 600-7022 0r 613-5117.

Yours faithfully,

Aneka Edwards
