GT&T should not charge rental when a landline service is out of order

Dear Editor,

It would be very useful for GT&T to advise me on the way forward in relation to my landline service which has remained ‘dead’ for more than three months now.

During this period repeated reports were made at the complaints desk in Anna Regina, which was a waste of travelling money and time, and turned out to be useless in this hard guava season.

Technicians can be seen passing my home village at Huis ‘t Dieren every so often, but at no time, not even for the sake of courtesy, did they carry out an inspection let alone to take corrective measures.

GT&T should not be so disdainful to a customer whose bills are paid up to date, as it is my right to know what the true position is, be it a spare parts shortage or any other problem.

Such contemptuous treatment is unacceptable, and better needs to be done. My main concern is if this service will ever be restored.

Bills continue to pour in for payment of monthly rental charges without any service being provided, and this is not only totally wrong but very unfair as well. In all fairness to me and other customers so affected, the company needs to make the necessary adjustments for no rental charges to be made for the period when the service was out of order.

Yours faithfully,
Abdool Kamal
