The long-term goal is a return of community spirit in Constituency 9

Dear Editor,

I am contesting the local government polls in Constituency 9 Lodge North/Meadow Brook Gardens, my home. There is so much I can say about this community but I know space limitations would not permit me.

My long term goal is to ensure there is a return of community spirit and critical to that is inclusivity. This is among the main reasons I am proud to be part of the diverse grouping, Team Benschop. We share the same vision, the same hopes and dreams.

Over the decades, I have witnessed the loss of togetherness and camaraderie, the loss of that feeling of belonging and the sense of ownership. The local government elections certainly give us the hope that all is not lost.

Over the next few weeks and beyond LGE I hope to function within the expectations of the people within my constituency. I wish to return several key items of physical infrastructure to the constituency, among them our community centre. I plan to explore the usage of our community college with a view to reintroducing the craft and technical programmes. I hope to be able to also examine having a functional ‘village’ office, which offers various services to the community.

I know by now many persons are saturated with talk and plans to ensure that there is proper waste disposal management, drainage is restored and street lighting is installed. The need for these features cannot be over-stated; they are key to ensuring a functioning community.

I hope that this election brings about the much desired change that will restore our community under our leadership.

Yours faithfully,
Gladstone George
