No new taxes for a year after elections

Dear Editor,

Minister of Communities, Mr Ronald Bulkan yesterday announced that residents in towns and neighbourhoods would eventually have to pay increased rates and taxes after properties are re-valued following the upcoming local government elections.

Team Benschop is putting the government on notice.

We are on the side of the people. Therefore, we will not support any new taxes within the first year in office. Instead, our priority is working to fix the broken system, give better services to the residents of Georgetown, and then after one year we will discuss the possibility of raising taxes after consultation with the people.

Yours faithfully,
Mark Benschop
