Jagan was prepared to offer vice-presidencies to Thomas and Tennassee

Dear Editor,

I noticed that there is debate about the offer of a ministerial position to distinguished Professor Dr Clive Thomas by Dr Jagan.

In 1990, a few days before nominations for the declared December 1990 elections the PCD (also in attendance was TUF) held marathon discussions on the form and participation in those announced elections. At the end of that meeting, Dr Jagan, Mr Paul Nehru Tennassee and I met about options after those failed PCD talks. I remember Dr Jagan saying that he had already made a commitment to Samuel Hinds as the prime ministerial candidate, but he was prepared to add two vice presidents ‒ Dr Thomas and Mr Tennassee.

This is my two cents’ contribution to this issue.

Yours faithfully,

Manzoor Nadir
