The Diamond/Grove roadways are completely covered with deep bush and vegetation while the Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) councillors are mute and underperforming in their mandate to the people of our communities which elected them seven months ago.
A visit to the junior staff public road, Pepsi sign area, Diamond squatting area, Diamond & Grove burial grounds, almost all the canals and trenches and access bridge will reveal the state of horrors and neglect.
I wrote in the past several letters to your newspaper highlighting these issues as well as inviting the electronic media but the situation has gotten worse while life goes on like nothing is wrong with the dissolute state of our community.
The Honourable Minister of Communities needs to get out of his office and visit these communities for a firsthand look at the situation on the ground, because when all is said and done this will reflect badly on the Government of the day which is trying its utmost to bring development to this country.
A call is being made to the Minister also on the plight of the people of Diamond Squatting Area who have gone for 23 years with little or no assistance despite a letter sent to the President who forwarded this to the Ministry for intervention. The 200-odd households are yet to even be acknowledged by the Ministry of Communities and this does not bode well for the future electoral chances of the APNU+AFC camp.
I take this opportunity once again to make an appeal to the elected Councillors of Grove/ Diamond to put aside their political differences and get our villages clean and healthy.
