The President David Granger government does not seem to have a comprehensive youth policy that deals with the problems affecting Guyanese youths today, namely, the lack of jobs for them.
President Granger wants Guyanese to become entrepreneurs. While this is admirable it can also be deemed unhelpful, as not only do many Guyanese who are not working lack the financial means to become entrepreneurs, they also lack the skills necessary to become successful business people.
One suggestion would be for the government to create apprenticeship programmes for every industry in Guyana. This will give those who are engaged in the scheme a chance to gain financial independence, as well as give them the required skills that they can then trade on to become entrepreneurs.
How does President Granger expect the citizens of Guyana to become entrepreneurs when they lack money and skill to do so?
