Parris nets hat trick

— as defending champs make winning start

Defending champs Chase Academy got its defence off to the perfect start downing Tucville Primary 5-0 when the fourth Annual Milo Schools u-20 Football Championship commenced Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground.

Following a dogged defensive display by the youthful Tucville unit, Ryan Hackett opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, slotting home his left footed effort from the left side of the box.

Ralph Parris made it 2-0 in the 44th minute, lashing his effort from the left side of the box through the legs of the goalkeeper.

Kelsey Benjamin then got into the scoring act four minutes later, finishing his effort from the centre of the box into the lower right corner, after collecting a flat cross from the right side

The score ballooned to 4-0 in the 60th minute as Parris netted his second, racing to the right side of the box before blasting his right footed shot into the lower left hand corner.

Parris then completed the result in the 65th minute, sealing his hat-trick in the process with a clinical placed strike into the lower left corner, after again racing into the right side of the penalty box.

Meanwhile, Kingston Secondary overcame a 0-2 deficit to draw 2-2 with last year’s losing finalist Dolphin Secondary. Leon Richardson gave Dolphin the initial lead from the penalty spot in the 16th minute.

It then became 2-0 in the 46th minute as Richardson finished past the advancing goalkeeper into the lower right corner after racing onto a through pass from the right side of the penalty box.

The comeback started in the 57th minute as Levi Williams scored a sublime effort, flicking the ball over the onrushing defender at the top of the box before blasting his volley into the lower left corner and was was completed in the 63rd minute when Vincent Thomas scored, latching onto a botched clearance by the ‘keeper 24 yards out in the centre of the field, before lobbing his right footed effort into the empty net.

Also clawing their way back from a two goal deficit to secure a point was Cummings Lodge who held St. Mary’s 2-2.

Trailing 0-2 at the half time interval following a double from Alyne Haynes in the 24th and 31st minute, Cummings Lodge leveled the matchup as Shaquille Inniss netted a brace in the 43rd and 58th minutes.

In the event opener, East Ruimveldt downed St. Winifred 2-1 with goals from Kenrick Lewis and Brian James in the 22nd and 61st minutes respectively. On target in the loss was Michael Joseph in the 56th minute.
