Dharry in line for British Commonwealth title shot

After numerous changes, the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBB) mega card is now almost set in stone.

According to an executive within the GBBC, a knockout night of boxing is now scheduled for February 27 and will be headlined by US-based World Boxing Council (WBC) FECARBOX bantamweight champion, Elton ‘The Bully’ Dharry.

“This is the final card,” the official reiterated.

Dubbed ‘International Slug Fest,’ the event will be staged at the Giftland Mall as the board tries to recreate a Las Vegas-like setting for boxing fans.

As of the time of this writing, the official stated that Dharry will face Pana-manian, Israel Hidrogo in a 10-round contest.

The card will also include high profile fighters, Mandessa Moses, Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques and Barbadian, Miguel ‘Hands of Stone’ Antoine. Exciting prospect, Imran ‘Magic’ Khan is also expected to make his second professional appearance in the ring.

Moses will face debutant Ansilla Norville (four rounds), Marques takes on Venuzuelan Freddie Belano in a 10-round affair while Antoine faces Revlon Lake in a welterweight matchup. The Lake/Antoine bout is billed for eight rounds.

Khan is scheduled to lace it up against fellow Guyanese, Quincy Gomes.

A knockout night of boxing is indeed on the cards.

The GBBC official also disclosed that should Dharry (19W-5L-1D) defeat Hidrogo, he will fight for the British Commonwealth bantamweight title here on May 21.

Contracts are still to be signed in the upcoming week but boxing starved fans are anticipating a solid nigh of fistic fury come February 27 at the edifice at Pattensen.
