Jamaican cyclist Marloe Rodman is planning to move to the courts over statements that he tested positive for banned substances following the five-stage road race here last November, statements which he views as libellous.
According to a Facebook post on the Guyana Cycling News page, Rodman, “is seeking legal advice as he moves to take out defamation suits against two media entities in the Eastern Caribbean and the President of the Guyana Cycling Federation.”
“I spoke to a lawyer Friday and will meet up with the lawyer tomorrow (Tuesday) to know the necessary steps to take. The allegation went viral and everybody started to call me to ask about it, so that how I went to do a test and the test came back negative so now I am planning to take legal action against Mr. Burrowes and also the Guyana newspaper and the Trinidad newspaper,” Rodman was quoted as saying on a Facebook post.
According to the Facebook post, Rodman’s result from a random drug test conducted by the Regional Anti-Doping Organisation, (RADO) in November last year, returned negative results earlier this week.
The local media house/s that allegedly “scarred his reputation” was/were not named in the post.
Following the event here last year, nine riders were tested and subsequently three adverse analytical findings were unearthed by Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organization Inc. (Caribbean RADO). To date the names of the cyclists have not been disclosed to the media by Caribbean RADO,.
