The 32-year-old Trinidadian is a powerful lower order batsman and slippery medium pacer who is one of the many sought-after West Indies players currently campaigning on the global Twenty20 circuit.

Surrey’s Director of Cricket, Alec Stewart, hailed Bravo as a “game changer”, nothing that he would be an asset for the club during his stint.

“Dwayne is one of the top all-rounders in world T20 cricket. He’s played with great success wherever he’s been so to secure his services is a great coup for us,” the former England captain said.

“He’s a game changer and a match winner – and he told me has always wanted to play for Surrey – and I’m sure plenty of people will want to come through the gates to see his talent.”

Bravo is coming off a successful stint in the Australia Big Bash where he turned out for Melbourne Stars alongside Gayle.

The Trinidadian is one of the most experienced T20 campaigners available with nearly 277 games to his name. He has scored 4492 runs at a strike rate of 125 and taken 285 wickets at an economy rate of eight runs an over.

Bravo said signing for Surrey was special since he had always had his eyes on the club.

“I’m really happy to have signed for Surrey. It’s a club I’ve always wanted to play for. I can’t wait to join the boys in June and play in front of all my English fans.”

Bravo will play all of Surrey’s T20 fixtures during the month of June.
