Champion Boys among teams through to main round

Samaroo Dam, Champion Boys and Upsetters were amongst the teams to seal their berth to the main round when Guinness of the Streets West Demerara qualifiers concluded on Sunday.

Hosted at the Pouderoyen Tarmac, Samaroo Dam sealed their berth to the group stage after downing Speedboat by a 1-0 margin. Similarly, Upsetters of Agricola defeated Vergenoegen United 1-0.

Meanwhile Champion Boys defeated Samaroo Dam Masters and Prospect Jammers to seal their position.

In their opening matchup, Champion Boys defeated Prospect Jammers via walkover.

They then defeated Samaroo Dam Masters 1-0 on penalty kicks after normal time ended scoreless.

Prior to their elimination, Samaroo Dam Masters defeated Admiral United 2-0 on penalty kicks after normal time ended 0-0

In other results, Shattaville Gunners downed Chelsea by a 1-0 score line while Comfort Ballers overcame Peters Hall by an identical score line.

Following the conclusion of the qualifiers, the 16 teams that will contest the group round are holders West Side Ballers, Raiders, Harmony Ballers-B, DeKinderen, Water Street Agricola, Bagotville Warriors, Harmony Ballers, Champion Boys, Showstoppers, Brothers United, Patentia Street Ballers, Best Road Ballers, Samaroo Dam, Upsetters, Comfort Ballers and Shattaville Gunners.

The opening night of the group stage fixtures is slated to commence on Wednesday at the same locale.
