Guyana lose 0-8 to Canada at Pan Am hockey

Guyana suffered their third consecutive loss in the Pan American Junior Hockey Championship, losing to hosts Canada by an 8-0 margin on Monday at the University of Toronto playing surface in Canada.

Suffering 7-1 defeats to Chile and Mexico in their earlier fixtures respectively, the Guyanese were blanked by the Canadians as Brandon Pereira and Aujla Kabir led the rout with doubles on either side of the half.

Pereira recorded his brace in the 13th and 50th minutes while Kabir scored his double in the 33rd and 60th minutes. Meanwhile, assisting with solo efforts were Johnny Gill, Amrit Sidhu, Shahbaaz Dhaliwal and Thomson Harris in the 15th, 18th, 47th and 68th minutes respectively.

With the result, Guyana remain pointless in the cellar position. They will now aim their sights on Argentina in the elimination round today at the same venue.
