North Haslington boot defending champs

A new Guinness of the Streets East Coast champion will be crowned after holders Beterverwagting (BV)-A were eliminated 0-1 by North Haslington in the quarterfinal round on Friday.

Played at the Haslington Market Tarmac, North Haslington upset the highly favoured defending champs compliments of a Theon Carr 10th minute conversion to set up a showdown with former winners Melanie-A who edged Golden Grove South 1-0.

Sherman Fraser scored in the 22nd minute.

The second semi-final will pit Plaisance-B against BV-B following quarterfinal wins over Nabaclis and Paradise respectively.

Plaisance-B downed Nabaclis 2-0 through goals from Vincent Thomas and Chris Cox in the ninth and 20th minute respectively while BV-B edged Paradise 1-0 compliments of a Threon Petri finish in the third minute.

In earlier round of 16 fixtures, Plaisance-B defeated Victoria Church Yard 1-0 with Kelvin Bowen scoring in the 16th minute while Company Road All-Stars went down to Paradise on penalty kicks after normal and extra time ended 1-1. Lancelot Griffith scored in the 18th for Company Road while Quincy Adams equalised in the 20th minute.

Meanwhile, Nabacalis edged Team Diamond 1-0 through a Quincy Juene effort in the 18th minute while BV-B edged Young Jiggers 3-2 on sudden death penalty kicks after normal and extra time finished 2-2.

Gerald Whittington and Clifton Bacchus scored for the winner in the seventh and 26th minute respectively while John Jordan and Stefan Bailey scored in the 16th and 22nd minute respectively.

Also, Melanie-A edged Portmore United 1-0. William Europe scored in the fourth minute. Similarly, BV-A downed Bare Root-A 3-1 led by an Akin Curry hat-trick in the 12th, 25th and 26th minute. For the losers, an own goal was recorded in the 13th minute.

Golden Grove South upset Melanie-B 2-1 with Deron Skeete and Shamar Kingston scoring in the 15th and 17th minute respectively. Scoring in the loss was Odel Gulliver in the 18th minute.

North Haslington downed Plaisance-A 3-1. Theon Carr netted in the eighth and 20th minute while Sherwin Skeete scored in the 19th minute. On target in the loss was Warren Gilkes in the 15th minute.
